WOMEN’S FASHION IN HYDERABAD

Fashion is a popular style or practice, especially in clothing, footwear, accessories, makeup and jewelry. Fashion is a distinctive and often habitual trend in the style. In Hyderabad city the fashion is like a necessity for all women as well as men, because everyone want to be look beautiful and a notable personality and the fashion is only way for this. In Hyderabad the fashion is spreading like fire in a jungle, when a new trend introduces in market, the women accept it quickly either it suits on them or not. There are many markets of cloths and jewelry in Hyderabad and also beauty parlors which help women to increase their beauty day by day. Changes in makeover, cloths and jewelry make women more attractive, that’s why women accept it as it introduce in market.
In old time there were not so many markets, women used to buy clothes and jewelry which were available in that market but now there are many markets where the variety is available for the costumers according to their choice. Nowadays the craze of fashion is being extending so much that people don’t see their financial condition in front of the fashion.

HISTORY OF JEWELRY IN HYDERABAD
In Hyderabad there was only “Resham Market”, where all the jewelry shops were located in “Sonar Gali” and people used to go there. It was a difficulty for them because the rate was almost same at all the shops and variety in designs was not available. In that time people used to like plain and heavy jewelry and on the occasions they prefer that jewelry which was available on shops. But gradually new shops and markets introduced and extended all over the Hyderabad, new designs were also introduced and people used to give orders to the goldsmith according to their own choice. In that time “Data Jewelers” “Al Shameem Jewelers” and many others were famous jewelers, their designs were new and reasonable, actually the rates were reasonable all over Hyderabad at that time and the material was also pure. But with the passage of time, as the new designs introduced, the material became impure and goldsmiths used to mix other material like copper, silver in gold jewelry. After this the demand of silver also increased and shopkeepers used to make silver ornaments. Nowadays the snatching problem is common in our city Hyderabad and that’s why people used to buy artificial jewelry instead of gold and silver jewelry. The designs and color is almost same as gold jewelry but prize is less than gold and silver.
Changes in designs and material
In old time the goldsmiths used to do hand work, the designs were made with instrument named “Aari”, they used to make different designs by cutting the gold in a shape. After this they used to work with “Die and Ploy Die” in which they create a shape of a design and put the piece of gold in it and press it, then that design automatically cut in that shape. In that time people mostly liked heavy and plain jewelry but with the passage of time the stone work (stone casting) introduced and different types of micro beats (gems) like Ruby, Zircon, Yakut and Akeeb were used to make jewelry more fancy and attractive. After this the trend of Diamonds and Pearl started in jewelry, which was an Indian trend and it also liked by people. Then R.P (computerize designing) introduced in which all the designs were made on computer. Indian, Kolkata, Madrasi, Singapuri, Pakistani, Kundan, Polki were some names of designs which were recently introduced in which designs were being colored and are still being sold in markets. Nowadays the work of cutting balls is introduced in market.
Changes in Rates
The rates of gold were almost high from the past according to the era, in other words as the time passes the rates will be automatically changed due to the extension of currency. About 20 years ago it was about 5000 to 6000, but in few years it arose to 10, and in 2001 it became 12. In the time of 2006 it became about 20. In 2014 it became 56000, which was a very high rate, but nowadays it is about 46900 and it’s being predicted that it will be decrease in few years, as it was in old time.

Reason behind rise and down fall of the rates
The rates of gold are being changed day by day, it’s because of changing in our currency, if the value of our currency will be decrease then it will be bought on high rates from the foreign countries and will sold here on high amount and also when foreign countries sell it to us on high rates. Another condition is that when the rate of oil becomes high then the charges of transport applied on the gold and the rates of gold become high and when the rates of oil decrease then the rates of gold automatically decrease.  The third condition is when it is the month of Mohram, the weddings or other ceremonies not performed, that’s why the goldsmiths decrease the rates in that month.
Silver Jewelry and White Gold
As compared to gold jewelry the demand of silver jewelry is very low in Hyderabad city, it’s because of people don’t like to wear silver even it’s cheaper than gold. Everyone prefers gold because it’s like a sign of having lots of money and everyone shows he is rich. Silver is made up of platinum and copper is also mixed in it to make the finishing perfect. Nowadays the rate of silver is about 600/10gm.
And if we talk about white gold then the rates are about 90,000 per tola, it’s very costly from gold and is not being purchased in Hyderabad city due its cost and also people don’t know about this as much as gold and silver. They compare it with silver because of its same color, but actually it’s very different. It is made up of palladium and its finishing is more perfect than silver, anybody can recognize it with its finishing. The melting point of white gold is 800oc and 25% pure gold also mixed in it.

Changes in shops
In past there were less shops in Hyderabad, there was no market of jewelry, and the shops which were available, those were very simple maintained. Not so much lighting in shops, no security arrangements, no competition with other shops. Designs were also old and heavy of that time. Instruments were not available for refining and cutting the material. Goldsmiths used to do all work with their hands and also got injured from it. There was not any electrical machine for weighing the gold, only Libra was available at that time, but gradually new shops and markets opened for this, new instruments, factories and designs introduced to make work easier. “Guthali” is an instrument which is still using from the past for melting the gold in it.

IMG_20141124_153012.jpg

Nowadays the shops become very attractive and well maintained, different types of lights are being used to put shining in the material. Different instruments are also being used in the shops. Controlled security doors and C.C T.V cameras are being used, which can capture every moment of the shop. Security guards are also appointed for keeping eye on the shop and out of the shop. Machines are available on shops for weighing the material. These changes are too much expensive for the goldsmiths but they bear it for their best maintenance of the shop.

Demand of Artificial Jewelry
The demand of artificial jewelry is increasing day by day in Hyderabad because it’s very cheap from gold and silver jewelry. In past there was less demand of artificial jewelry, everyone preferred gold but nowadays as there is problem of theft and snatching so every women prefer artificial instead of gold jewelry. There is not much difference in look, it’s same as gold in color and designs. Designs like pearl work, Indian Kundan and stone work are as same as in gold and silver jewelry. There are many shops and stalls of artificial jewelry in every market of Hyderabad. The shopkeeper also colors the jewelry according to our demand (like we want the matching dress color on our jewelry). The rate of artificial jewelry is according to its work and also depends upon that how heavy it is. The simple sets are about 500 to 1000; however the bridal sets are about 10,000 to 20,000. But the problem is that the color of the jewelry becomes black after sometime and it also becomes allergenic for those whose skin is soft and sensitive. Instead of it women prefer it most because of it cheapness.

Problems and Issues of Shopkeepers
Ø     The major problem of goldsmiths is security. In our city the problem of snatching is increasing day by day so the goldsmiths don’t consider their shops safe from robbers and thieves.
Ø     The issue of selling stolen gold by costumers and also the issue of selling fake gold material to the goldsmiths. These issues are very common nowadays.
Ø      Problem of transport of gold from foreign countries. The goldsmiths cannot buy the gold on wholesale, because it’s not allowed to take large amount of gold from other countries, so they take a limited amount with them.
Ø     The problem of transferring a new design to another shop or branch. They melt the gold and make a biscuit or a piece of gold and then take with them (it’s because of snatching).
Ø     The problem of paying rent is also there, the rent of shop is depend upon the area that in which area the shop is. In Sadder its about 50,000 to 1 lac and in Latifabad it’s about 20,000 to 30,000 and in Resham bazaar it’s about 25,000 to 50,000, that’s why mostly goldsmiths prefer their own shop.
Ø     The owner of the shop also applied extra charges of the shop of a goldsmith because he thinks that the shopkeeper will earn more money as compared to other shops.
Ø     The bills of extra lighting and security applications are also a problem for them.
Ø     The problem of chemicals which they use to polish the gold and silver, it’s very harmful for them because it can cause allergy to their skin.
Ø     And also there is a main problem of remained pieces of cut gold which are as tiny as they can enter in their body with breathing, which can cause death.
Ø     The problem of load shedding which creates disturbance in their work and they can’t complete their order on given time.
Stories of Jewelers

1.    A goldsmith of a shop named Abdullah Zever Collection in Latifabad was cheated by a lady, the lady sold him a gold chain of rupees 30,000 and left the shop, when he checked the chain he found that the chain was artificial, only its hook was of gold.

2.    Another goldsmith of a shop named New MB jewelers in Saddar was cheated by a costumer, the costumer bought a gold ring from him and wear it, he said to shopkeeper that the money is outside in the car so I am going to get it and will be back in few minutes, he went n didn’t return back.

3.    A goldsmith of Resham Bazaar was cheated by a family, they gave them 4 spoons and said these are silver spoons and the shopkeeper gave money of those spoons to them, after some days he checked and found that the spoons were of copper.

4.    There was a goldsmith in Latifabad who opened new shop of jewelry for the first time. He bought 200 tola gold from a person on whole sale, after some time he checked the gold and whole gold was fake. The purchase was of about 1crore and that goldsmith faced a great loss. He complained against that person but nothing happened.

These were some incidents faced by different goldsmith. I don’t know what we should consider from these stories, the cheating of persons or the lack of knowledge of goldsmiths to recognize the real Gold and Silver.
          Contribution
The jewelry is considered like a part of a body for women. It has also an effect upon cultural, economic and social life of the people. If we see the history we will find that the people of that time used to wear different types of jewelry like of stones and sea-shells, they used to make the jewelry by collecting different shapes of stones and attach them in a thread and wear it to enhance their beauty. The Kings and Queens of that time wear jewelry from their head to feet. It was like to mention their nobility and richness to others. This culture is being still repeated, people used to wear new and heavy jewelry to show their high personality among the people. Different caste people like different variety, Muslims like Duhri and Non-Muslims like Maang Tika most in the jewelry, so the jewelry affects the culture.
On other hand the jewelry also affect the economical life of people. It’s the only way for jewelers to earn their livelihood, they are fully satisfied with it and some people also do business with it, they buy gold and with the increasing rates they sell it out. By this way they gain profit from it and sometimes with the decreasing rates they gain loss which affect their economical condition.
The jewelry has also an effect upon the social life. In our society it’s like a custom to give gold to the girl in the marriage ceremony. All the parents want to gift gold to their daughter. One who cannot afford, and then he purchases gold by asking loan from his relative or any other person. This thing shows that in how much show off is being common in our society. Nowadays it’s common to give 5 to 10 Tolas gold in marriage ceremony.
There is another effect of jewelry on the society. The material which is being used to make the gold like copper and platinum, sometimes affect the human body. During making of it, many people got cancer and diseases of lungs and kidney. Sometimes the users get skin diseases by wear it. It’s a negative impact of jewelry upon the society.

MATCH MAKERS

MATCH MAKERS

What is MATCH-MAKING?
Match making is the process of matching two people together, usually for the purpose of marriage.
ROLE OF MATCH MAKERS:
In world women ratio is more than men and for marriages we are facing a lot of problems and matchmakers are the person who arranges the marriages in our society, they are the people who are social and doing all this as a business. In Pakistan, this culture is very common. In early time people specially women were used to do this work but to seek reward as a social work helping others to find suitable spouses and getting them married. But now match making is a business in all over the world and the only sources is to become a good match maker you must have a lot of contacts and you have to be a social person you can easily work through your mobile phone too. It has became a business from which many people are  earning a lot, some people runs their marriage bureaus and some work individually and some works in groups, few women and few men as a partner. Some widowed and divorced women are needy and are in this profession for earning some amount of money because they don’t have any other sources of earning. Some work through online websites there are a lot of sites of marriage matrimony.
Now a day’s match makers are playing a vital role in our society, these women contribution is that they are decreasing the ratio because they do work for every class and every culture. They do not work only for singles but for widow, divorced and disable persons. Because men and women are not complete without marriages and they want to marry with the girl or a boy with some requirements and the match maker completes the requirement of the people by finding such person who is like the requirement of other. And the very common requirements of every man are girl must have to be beautiful and well educated and every girl demands that man must have to be well educated, Good job and a heavy salary, and there are some requirements of families too that girl or boy must be from good and rich families very few people don’t care about the standards of family but mostly families do.
MATCHMAKING IN HYDERABAD:
The most common way of their work is they go to every social event where they introduce them self as a match maker they ask the people who are worried about their relatives marriages that they work as a match maker and they have a lot of costumers who are looking for the partners . Those aren’t social in our society and worried about their loved once marriages they prefer these women. They call or meet them and ask them to visit our place, for that they charge some amount like Rs.2000 or 1000 for the first visit and they bring some photos and show these photos on the first visit photos of other costumers those are already looking for the girl or a boy or sometimes you have to I submit Rs 5,000 registration fee and they will promise you to find an excellent match. They also tell them information of them that we have a costumer who is looking for a partner and they have some requirement every family have some requirements if any of person is up to their requirements they arrange their meeting where both families meets if the both family got ready for the match and the marriage after investigation or without investigation then both families have to pay half amount of their deal which is about 10,000rs and remaining 10,000rs will be given after the marriage and the total charges of these women are about Rs.20,000 most common but depends upon the costumer how the costumer is the charges changes on every costumer and  for international marriages they charge more.
EVENTS:
Many registered and professional marriage bureaus mostly arrange an event and invite all the applicants, where they meet and if they like anybody so they exchange their contacts and settled down everything.
PROBLEMS AND ISSUES:
There are some issues and problems of these match-makers like, they use unfair tactics to extract maximum money from the citizens, who are having problems in finding suitable matches for their children due to financial and social constraints. After receiving money they don’t give response and these people always tell you that these matters “take time”. These people approach their customers with their attractively worded and well-phrased ads in different newspapers. They ask to fill out registration forms, take a large amount of money and never send any one. They don’t even bother to pick up your phone when you call them after paying money. After taking the money, they even refused to recognize you. They are not responsible for anything and you cannot claim. They won’t tell you the real age, education, prestige E.T.C. mostly they lie just for the sake of money they don’t care about the future of that couple what it will be. They hide reality sometimes even they tell families that don’t tell this or that. If you will consult to a high profile marriage bureaus their demands are too high and you have to pay a good amount. Than families whom they introduce you they have a lot demands like dowry and car and girls family should support financially. Girl’s family want a guy from higher class and a man have separate home.
Instead of depending on such people we should also investigate it’s not wrong to consult with match makers or marriage bureau for marriages they are now very important because the ratio of girls is more than boys, but we should not totally depend upon these people we our own self should have to investigate because they mostly lie they don’t care about others the thing only they care about is money.
