Qadeer Sheikh interview by Yasir

Qadeer Sheikh- A Creative writer

by Yasir Ali                   Roll no: 121

Qadeer Sheikh was born in Ghambat Khora District Khairpur-Mirus. A Drama writer, Story writer, literal critique and a Columnist for various Newspapers. His famous dramas are Wafa, FSarjaeas Tan Sur, Footpath, and Hokum

.How would you define yourself in a crux?
Ans: I am simple and ordinary person, I am creative writer, realistic and I do believe in social justice so I have penetrated in my writings.

.What inspired you to become a Drama writer?
Ans:It was inner passion of my existence which came out of social reflection, social injustice, rebel thoughts, classified system, and worst situation, what ever I observed I transformed it in a drama so I could share it with people. Though I have tried various experiences but when I started Drama writing, it seemed to me that drama is medium to interact with mass and techniques of Drama better influence on people’s minds. Dramas act well than poetry and story.

.How much importance of drama is in the Sindhi Literature?
Ans:The importance of Drama (Stage as well as T.V) in Sindhi Literature is as much important as other writings, it has evolved though out its history but in subcontinent it has developed after partition and interpreted the problems of routine life. Stage drama defines external aspects of life though T.V drama presents the discourse of internal situation of person. Though both tactics of Drama represents life of people and it directly makes communication among people, it is smooth activator therefore it is more popular.

.What tactics are being used in Sindhi Drama to date?
Ans: Incidental way is applied on TV dramas and various joints of incidents are taken and given an order to complete it, whether Drama writing is not only description of incidents but by touching sensitive emotions with consciousness in accordance of  an individuals psychology is the effective way  to write a Drama.

.Being Drama writer and critique put alight on Sindhi Literature?
Ans:Sindhi Literature is too much rich its root are strong and history holder. The genre of Sindhi Literature has evolved in various periods and every period has influence of different dimensions and ideologies. Prosper period of Sindhi Literature is 1970 to 1990’s. Now this is the modern period of literature and the subject of poetry in Sindhi Literature is mature. In a genre of story Sindhi Literature emerges in modern aspects and developed widely. Though Sindhi Novel has not made counter of many subjects, despite that Sindhi Novel is under latest experiences. Over all it could be said it’s not hopeless.
.
What is main difference in Sindhi and other language Drama?
Ans:Western and other developed counties have socially liberal society, therefore in their Dramas life and every dimension of human is covered thus those Dramas are effective because they fulfill the demands of their age; but Sindhi Dramas could not represent various angles of life due to ethical censorship, so there is no subjective variability in Sindhi Dramas but in regards   technique and art Sindhi Drama is very firm. Sindhi Drama had been only source of communication at the popular era of PTV before the advent of private Sindhi channels and it depicted social values realistically; writers and directors never compromised on story presentation despite advertisement were also present then. But since private channels came into being the Dramas presented on demand of advertisement companies and such Dramas can’t connect culturally with Sindhi public that is the main reason those dramas are the part of popular culture.

.What new things should be included in Sindhi Drama?
Ans:Sindhi Drama should not be incidental based but Drama writer must keep latest dry runs in their mind to write a Drama. Sindhi writer must bring new discourses in Drama writing than the generally written.
.Is there any difference between Solo Plays and Serial Plays?
Ans:Solo Play is one episode Drama in which story and result is mentioned though Serial Play includes many episodes and result also given after completion of all episodes.

.How many and on what subjects you have written Dramas
Ans:I have written 25 Stage Dramas, 20 T.V Dramas, except that 30 Solo Plays, 10 five days, 3 days, Serial Plays. The subject of my Dramas is Social Psychology, Romanticism, Inner disturbance of individuals, classified socio economic system, Social justice and family problems are included.
.
What message you have for our young generation?

Ans:Young generation must have to be courage, new generation ought to have social, political, economical and historical consciousness. If they want to be writer they have to be bold and secular. Youth must have to be brave so they can write on sensitive issues

Author's name in the file is must. Proper noun is always written with capital. Domicile is not proper noun,  Nearly 90 percent proper nouns are in lower cap.  This is bad practice. If personality is woman only then it can be termed as Mother Teresaa etc.

Revisiting Larkana Referred back

Yasir Ali        Roll no: 121
Referred back
                                                Revisiting Larkana
Revisiting means some thing has been changed, and u should record describe those changes. we will need some photos of Larkana.
Add proverb “ Hujye Naano ta Ghum Larrkano”

I love to visit historical places and exposures of new things is amazing, meeting new people, different languages, culture, traditions these were the adventurous tours which I did in recent past. I like exploring Sindh’s historical places. This time I decided to go Larkana along friends, Larkana includes bunch of things to visit; the most important is Mohen Jo Daro.

Larkana itself has a vast history. It has produced many intellectuals’ leaders and a gem of talent; there are campuses of different universities, including the campus of Quad e Awam University, campus of Shah Abdul Latef University, Campus of University of Sindh and the Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Medical University.

It was Friday evening suddenly we decided to go because of three holidays, what we would have done in these days there was no exams no assignments no research wok we could just be bored of same hostel routine life.

(Delete this, u r not writing travelogue. Train reached at Jamshoro station at 12 am we left for Larkana. Trains are very few for this route and almost all seats are reserved by peoples of Quetta, regional people face problems. We set in bogie full of packed people we some how got some place to stand in a side. What I saw in train was inhuman even animals don’t do such things because all humans are equal but I seen some are more equal than others.

Finally the entire tough situation came to an end; we reached Larkana at 8 pm, Khan Ghafar Khan a friend came at station to receive us and we left to his home where we took rest and took bath and left to visit the places of high prestige.)

We (Faroq, Athar, khan Ghafar Khan and I) along the renowned intellectual and publisher of “Sarasvati Sahat Ghar” Essa Memon went to visit Tomb Shah Baharo; it’s near to Gajanpur chowk.
Shah Baharo was the indefatigable general of Sindh in 18th century who fought 84 battles against the enemies ( who? Define, nameit)  of Sindh during the Kalhoro rule and restored peace to Larkana when Sindh ruler Mian Mohammad Kalhoro appointed him administrator of the area. Mian Mohammad Kalhoro built his tomb in 1773 in recognition of his services for the state.

The weaken condition of the resting place of this general is now being weaken the cracks are developed in tomb’s main structure because of heavy rains, we observed this historical monument may vanish by bits and pieces if the concern department don’t take measure to preserve the Shah Baharo’s tomb.

Returning from Shah Baharo we had had a lunch and went to “Jinah Bagh.” (why at this place? Any sepciality?)
(Once Tajar Building) the only place for relaxation of people of Larkana, Jinah Bagh includes “Gomi Bai gim khana”, a walking track where people of Larkana come for jogging and some fresh air, children amusement park, family park, family park and the most important  The Press Club of Larkana. Being journalist we meet with general secretary of Press Club Murtaza Kalhoro who briefed us history and new development of Press Club.

After Press Club we (duplication) went to see to Shah Nawaz Bhutto library which was also mentioned by the renowned journalist Wusatallah Khan in his column “the Shah Nawaz Public Library is the top Library which is always packed of students stood in line in the morning time to reserve the seats to sit and read” obviously we observed as Wusatallah Khan described. (Darw a scene of library what we call in sindhi Manzar Kashi, how it looks like etc)
(Write about hotels, and then about this one. No need to mention about dinner)We had had a dinner in luxury hotel and restaurant Sambara Inn.

(now we had spent our whole day and had left one day only so in short time we had to move toward other sites so finally - delete) we went for Mohen Jo Daro next day.

(We reached Mohen Jo Daro which - delete)  it is 27 kilometers away from Larkana I collected tickets for entry, We entered in Mohen Jo Daro; first of all I decided to show Museum to my friends. My friends were amazed to see priceless monuments, seals, pots, make up equipments, chase and dice. (Visit of Moen jo daro is different thing. Here we are talking about Larkana only.)

We moved to visit Stupa which represents the era and influence of Buddha’s period, it is considered that was central worship place and near by buildings are assumed to be the collage, moving 15 meters on right side of collage there is a wide pool known as central swimming pool, the streets are made enough wide, the derange system shocked us it was highly planned, the houses were made with cooked bricks. We visited entire Mohen Jo Daro snapped images whole around it and came back to my home where we had a dinner same night we came back by Bolan Express with smiling and satisfied faces.
(There are some other places  of Larkana, worth visiting. AL-Murtza,  some old college, Resham bazar, etc. U should mention about some prominent personalities like Sobho, and their abodes)

Revised :UNDERTRIAL: A shot of real life

Still needs some explanations and more clarity . it is a very sensitive subject. Should be handle carefully
Undertrial a movie on taboo topic
Review by Yasir Junejo

Some time we experience such happenings about which we can not even imagine. Such a type of strong elements if common man hears he would be shocked. The subjects of these stories are prohibited to talk in public and they remain untouchable in our society. But these subjects are serious and have direct impact on our life.
Often such tragedy finds its way in art, literature and cinema.
Such a shocking and finger biting a real story is presented through a Bollywood movie UNDERTRIAL released in 2007. Directed by Aziz Khan, produced and written by Nazim Hassan Rizvi, this movie is a tale of under trial prisoner at the jail. He has been blamed for raping his three daughters for 8 years and issuing them death threats.
“Undertrial” is representing our social conditions.  One can find reports in media about father abusing his own children. This movie interprets the same thing but with a different dimension.
Few other movies have been produced on this sensitive subject but they did not touch the main point so comprehensively. This is made on real story while others are fiction based; therefore “UNDERTRIAL” is the best among them. It has many turns, many complexities interrelating parts of this story hit like hammer for which we are unknown. People react aggressively, particularly in eastern society about such cases, as film suggests because they do not know both sides of coin. This point is mainly focused in this film.
Rajpal Yadav has played role of Sagar Hussain, the alleged father in this movie. The versatile actor does not feel complexity for any role but this would have been difficult for him too. However he did his job quite well. Kadar Khan has performed energetic role of lawyer, who defends the accused father
The scene which is essence of the movie when Mukesh offers Rajpal (the father) tea and he starts crying and Mukesh inquires why he was crying, Rajpal bursts out and says “jab se pakra gaya hun tab se logon ne sirf mujhe mara hi hai, kisi ne laton se mara, aur kisi ne baton se, baqi jo bache unhone nazron se maar maar k mery badan ko adhmara kardala hai”.
This film gives us message some people stop resisting to weakness and move on wrong path in the life, trying to get high position in society by hook or crook. Even at cost of losing self-respect and dear ones.
The film ends positively, the man gets free but it stings you like needle when jailor ask Rajpal where would you go now the depressed man sadly replies “I don’t know where the way takes me ”.
Over all UNDERTRIAL is a brilliant touching crime drama movie that takes the complete attention that impacts in viewers mind for long time, it could not earn good place on box office but the film has the merits to rise with positive feedback.

UNDERTRIAL: A shot of real life

There are many stories that happen in our lives, at the moment; but we could not even imagine about them, which have such type of strong elements that if common man hears, his mind would be shocked and shrink. The subject of those stories are prohibited to talk on in public and they remain untouchable in our society but those are very much serious and directly impacting on our social life.

And more often the tragedy is making these stories publicize through art, literature and cinema is about negligible, the only reason behind it is the lack of tolerance to acknowledge the things that peel off imposed social shades and reveals hidden circumstances of our social and personal life.
Such a shocking and finger biting a real life based story is presented through a Bollywood crime drama movie UNDERTRIAL released on 9th February 2007. Directed by Aziz khan, produced and written by Nazim Hassan Rizvi “UNDERTRIAL” is a tale of under trial   prisoner at the jail, he has been blamed for raping his 3 daughters for 8 years and threating them for death.
“UNDERTRIAL” is representing our social conditions in which we are suffering till today, the movie was released in 2007 but yet defining subject on which it is based on, whatever we get reported in daily newspapers that father has abused his own children, this movie interprets the same thing but with a different dimension.
Few other movies have been produced on this sensitive subject but they could not completely touch the main point likewise; Avin brown’s “ Just ask my children”, Ashoka handagama’s “Aksharaya”, “Matar bhomi”, “Mommie dearest”, which this movie ties on this. This is made on real based story while others are fiction based, therefore “UNDERTRIAL” is best among them.
Under-trial move has many bends and turns since it’s based on true life incident which confuse someone completely at the turn of events, the many complexly interrelating parts of this story hits like hammer about which are unknown to us. People react aggressively in eastern society about such cases even they do not know both sides of coin. This point is mainly focused in this film.

Rajpal Yadav has played Sagar Hussain the alleged father in this movie, though the versatile actor like Rajpal Yadav does not feel complexity for any role but this would have been evenly difficult for him too, despite he has done it quite well.
Monica Castelino Sagar’s wife has also managed the character very well but left some leakages in the trunk, she goes over the top in some scenes, you can’t be failed to see she is performing a role which requires an actor to do. She is excellent in a role of various ages: young, middle and old.
Kadar khan has performed energetic role of lawyer, who fights for accused father and even a good will director Aziz khan could not keep a good hand on storyline and misleads the track at many points in the movie.
The cinematographer has not earned enough on his name, if it would have made a realistic photography, it could make movie master piece, these would be put further but slight detail.
Any film that boasts of a hard-hitting and compelling story ought to be handled with equal conviction. Although the initial portions of UNDERTRIAL aren't captivating, primarily because the film gives more-than- required footage to the jail inmates and assorted characters, a few moments between Rajpal Yadav and Mukesh Tiwari are interesting nonetheless.
The scene which is essence of the movie and I like a lot is when Mukesh offers Rajpal tea and he starts crying and Mukesh asks why you are crying, Rajpal bursts out and say “jab se pakra gaya hun tab se logon ne sirf mujhe mara hi hai, kisi ne laton se mara, aur kisi ne baton se, baqi jo bache unhone nazron se maar maar k mery badan ko adhmara kardala hai”
This film gives us a message some people stop resisting to weakness and moves on wrong path in life, trying to get reputation and high position in society by hook or crook. Even at cost of losing self-respect and dear ones for your own luxury life!

 Old piece and comments
If this movie was released in 2007, what is relevance of its review today in 2015?  Media writing should be current and should have some relevance to the current, present situation.
Compare and contrast with other movies made on this subject/topic
